In March 2007 people at New Line Cinema tell us enthusiastically that they want to adapt the Gears of War for the big screen. Stuart Beattie (Collateral, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl) was hired to write the script, and several months later Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) signed the contract for administration.The script was revised from Chris Morgan, who adapted the story from the comic book Wanted. Then he was called Billy Ray (Breach, Shattered Glass).
The LA Times tells us now that Wiseman gave up the project because New Line Cinema production halved the budget. Now the filmmaker signed for apocalyptic thriller Nocturne.
At this time Gears of War Movie release date is unknown as we know from imdb. A possible release date coul be in 2014, 2015 or later and is probably to not be too soon because the game make a lot of money wright now.
Let's see some project notes about this movie: 21 March 2007 - Optioned Property, on March 2008 was relesed the first script, 5 May 2009 - Budgeting, on November 2010 - Reportedly stalled and on 20 April 2011 was set for Development Unknown.
